The playing area in Klondike Solitaire is divided into four main sections: the Tableau (the main playing area with 7 columns), the Foundations (the 4 target piles), the Stockpile (your draw pile), and the Waste pile.

Here are the basic rules to get you started:

• Building the Tableau: You can move face-up cards around the tableau by stacking them in descending order and alternating colors. For example, you can place a red 6 (Hearts or Diamonds) onto a black 7 (Spades or Clubs).

• Revealing Cards: When you move a face-up card and expose a face-down card underneath it, that hidden card is flipped over and becomes playable.

• Drawing from the Stockpile: If you run out of moves on the tableau, click the stockpile to draw cards into the waste pile.

• Filling Empty Spaces: If a column in your tableau becomes completely empty, that space cannot remain blank forever. However, you can only move a King (or a sequence of cards with a King at the base) into an empty column.

Turn 1 vs. Turn 3: Which Should You Play?

When playing Klondike Solitaire, you can usually choose between two popular draw variations:

• Turn 1 (Draw 1): One card is drawn from the stockpile at a time. This version is highly solvable and recommended for beginners or players looking for a relaxing, casual game.

• Turn 3 (Draw 3): Three cards are drawn from the stockpile at once, but only the top card of the three is immediately accessible. This severely limits your options and provides a significantly harder challenge for advanced players.

Top Strategy and Tips to Win Klondike Solitaire

While the game relies partly on the luck of the draw, applying advanced strategies is the key to winning consistently:

1. Move Aces and Twos Immediately: Aces and Twos (Deuces) are the building blocks of your foundation piles. Whenever they are exposed, move them to the foundation right away.

2. Prioritize Uncovering Hidden Cards: Your primary goal on the tableau should be to reveal face-down cards. If you have multiple move options, always choose the move that uncovers cards in the column with the largest number of hidden cards.

3. Don't Empty Columns Prematurely: Do not move the last card out of a tableau column unless you already have a King ready to take its place. An empty column serves no strategic purpose if you cannot fill it.

4. Be Careful with Kings: If you have an empty column and multiple Kings available, look at the color of the cards currently blocking your largest face-down piles. Choose the King (red or black) that will allow you to untangle those specific blocking cards later.

Think Before You Move: Not every obvious move is the right one. Analyze the board before placing a card from the waste pile onto the tableau to ensure it won't block a better sequence down the line.
